The President of the Insider Threat Defense Group (ITDG) is Mr. Jim Henderson, The ITDG was founded in 2009 (ITDG Overview). Our office is located 10 minutes South of West Palm Beach, Florida. We are a U.S. based company and provide our services worldwide.

The foundations and comprehensive nature of the training and consulting services offered by the ITDG, come from our 15+ years of extensive experience in the field of IRM.

From 2009 to 2011, the ITDG provided expert guidance to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community Agencies (ICA’s) on Insider Threat Program Development and IRM. Mr. Henderson was part of a special group of Counterintelligence and Security professionals from the DoD, ICA’s (NCIX – NSCS, NGA, NRO, NSA, CIA) and the FBI that were instrumental in developing what is known as National Insider Threat Policy for the DoD and ICA’s. Mr. Henderson was assigned to the DoD Insider Threat Counterintelligence Group and provided guidance to DoD (Commands, Services, Agencies) to enhance security controls for detecting and mitigating Insider Threats, and provided guidance for developing Insider Threat Programs.

In 2014, the ITDG was the first company to offer comprehensive training and consulting services to the U.S. Government and Cleared Defense Contractors, who were required to implement Insider Threat Programs, based of off National Insider Threat Policy, and NISPOM Conforming Change 2 regulations.

ITDG instructors and consultants are recognized as experts in the field of IRM. Mr. Henderson has 10+ years of IT Security / Network Administration experience, and over 15+ years of experience protecting classified information up to the Top Secret SCI Level, with hands-on experience in the development, implementation and management of; Insider Threat Programs, Cyber Security – Information Systems Security Programs and Information Assurance Programs, for U.S. Government Agencies (Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community Agencies, Defense Contractors, State Governments, large and small businesses.

Mr. Henderson is the Founder and Chairman of National Insider Threat Special Interest Group (NITSIG), and Founder / Director of the Insider Threat Symposium & Expo (ITS&E). The NITSIG was created in 2014 to function as a National Insider Threat Information Sharing & Analysis Center. The NITSIG Membership is the largest network (1000+) of Insider Risk Management professionals in the U.S. and globally.

Mr. Larry Knutsen

Former Senior Intelligence Service Officer With The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)

Mr. Knutsen retired as a Senior Intelligence Service Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, after 30 years of service. Within the National Clandestine Service, he was responsible for creating the vision, and leading the Agency’s sophisticated Counterintelligence and Security Technical Insider Threat Detection Program, which became recognized as the ‘Gold Standard’ for the U.S. Government Intelligence Community.

Mr. Knutsen lead an interagency team of technical and policy experts in response to unauthorized disclosure from WikiLeaks resulting in the adoption of numerous enhancements to protect sensitive information. Mr. Knutsen has supported both commercial and government customers to enhance their Insider Threat Programs.

Mr. Jason Blue

NITSIG Advisory Board Member

At BAE Systems, Mr. Blue implemented and managed the Insider Threat Program at 40% of the staffing and cost of peers’ programs.

Mr. Blue developed Insider Threat detection tactical and strategic capabilities and contributed to global Insider Threat risk best practices, standards, and implementations.

Mr. Blue was responsible for the Insider Threat, litigation support (eDiscovery), digital forensics & investigations, and cybersecurity training functions.

Mr. Blue developed and tested analytics for anomaly, outlier, and insider threat detection using traditional and machine learning models in combination with behavioral indicators resulting in a false positive rate of less than 3%.

As a Senior Principal Program Manager for Securonix, Mr. Blue managed a top 10 bank’s transition from a SIEM tool to a User Entity Behavior Analytics tool.
